Crayonymous began with a request I kept getting.

My kids love to color, and they’re always asking me for coloring sheets. Google image searches work to find ready-made stuff, but it’s of varying quality and generally can’t be customized… the request I get most often is for coloring sheets with them in the picture!

LLMs can create great line drawings based on existing photos, but it’s a pain to enter the specific prompt every time, and I always have privacy concerns when uploading photos of my kids to any website or service.

That led me to develop Crayonymous, a simple app that creates customized coloring sheets with kid-specific images without ever needing to send a photo off your device. It works by using the phone’s own image processing to describe key attributes in words, then sends just what the drawing service needs to create the coloring sheet.

It does a great job solving this problem, and I’m excited to explore how this process could help with other situations too.
